About Pastor Ginn:
Pastor Ginn grew up in Raleigh and considers herself a native North Carolinian. Though her religious roots are Southern Baptist, she and her husband Loyd have been Lutheran for 30 years. As a student, she earned a BA in English from Wake Forest University, an MA in American Literature from the University of Tennessee in Knoxville, and Master of Divinity degree from the Lutheran School of Theology at Chicago. She also worked on a PhD in English at UNC-Chapel-Hill, teaching Freshman English there. She also worked in campus ministry at North Carolina State University, then taught writing and American Literature at NCSU, and later spent six years as an Editor at SAS Institute in Cary, NC.
Before coming to Cross and Crown, Pastor Ginn served St. John's Lutheran Church in Salisbury and, as an intern, Zion Lutheran Church in Gowrie, Iowa. She has served on the Board of Trustees of Lutheran Family Services of the Carolinas and on the North Carolina Synod Council. She is part of a clergy couple, her husband Loyd serving currently as Interim Pastor at Center Grove Lutheran Church in Kannapolis.
Pastor Ginn enjoys grocery shopping and cooking with husband Loyd, spending time with friends, reading fiction, listening to all kinds of music, and watching the antics of Brisket the Jack Russell Terrier and Cleo the calico cat. She is also a writer, having published her work in The Lutheran, Christian Century, and the devotional guide Christ in Our Home.
She has a passion for telling Gospel stories by heart and believes that scripture stories come alive in a community of tellers and listeners. She enjoys teaching, mentoring leaders, and walking alongside others as they grow spiritually. As Pastor of Cross and Crown, she is constantly amazed that God has brought such gifted and loving people together as the body of Christ at 300 Pineville-Matthews Road.
