The women of the Miriam Circle meet at 7 p.m., the second Thursday of each month in the church parlor.
All Cross and Crown women are welcome to join. Contact person is Sharon Davis.
The Miriam Circle is a very active group of church women regularly providing for various church needs, member needs, and community needs. Annually, the Circle supplies the Cross and Crown college students with gift boxes, and sends care packages to C&C military personnel. The Circle provides groceries, supplies, clothing, or Christmas gifts among needy C&C and community members. Also, they buy quilt batting for the Squares of Love quilters who give quilts to shut-ins, new mothers, the elderly, and to others as needed; provide Campfirmation scholarships; and hold an annual women's retreat.
Over the years, the Miriam Circle has made untold financial contributions to various needs, and continually provides dinners for the Family-Promise families when they stay at Cross and Crown. Also, individual Circle members make full meals for households when an accident or illness strikes. Annually, they collect Easter candy and fill hundreds of plastic eggs for the C&C children's Easter Egg Hunt.
Previously, the ladies
-
donated bullet-proof vests to the Matthews Police Department;
-
provided "Fireman Down" alarms to the Matthews Fire Department;
-
bought five CD players for the Weekday School and Sunday School;
-
contributed funds toward painting the church interior;
-
provided furniture for the Pastor's office, and
-
gave a tidy sum toward refurbishing the church parlor and to many other church needs.
Circle members primarily raise money through the Cross and Crown Annual Yard Sale.
